Joanie Sams is director of catering for The Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, Michigan.

Sams has earned a reputation for creating exquisite settings for the banquets and special events the hotel has hosted, while nurturing The Townsend Hotel's position as one of the most prestigious locations for a special event in Michigan. 

A graduate of Central Michigan University, with many steps in her career incorporating hospitality, she has called The Townsend Hotel home for more than 20 years.

Sams is a Detroit-area native and resides in West Bloomfield where she cares for her mother.
