BIRMINGHAM, Mich. Oct. 18, 2009 - The Detroit Free Press has honored The Townsend Hotel with a spot on its Top Workplaces list for 2009. The list recognizes the best businesses in southeast Michigan based on feedback from an employee survey covering workplace management, working conditions, company direction and other criteria.

The 20-question survey was filled out by all Townsend Hotel employees. Winning companies are honored in the October 18 edition of the Detroit Free Press. The Townsend has also been honored this year with a Mobil Four Star recognition and holds a perennial place on Conde Nast's "Top 100 Gold List" and Travel + Leisure's "World's Best Hotels."

Since The Townsend opened in 1988, it has received numerous awards and accolades including Forbes Four Star and AAA Four Diamond designations as well as a perennial position on Conde Nast's "Top 100 Gold List," and Travel + Leisure's "World's Best Hotels."
